It seems Mr. Darcy is working on a new role these days: eco-warrior. After opening two fair-trade coffee shops called Progreso in London’s Notting Hill and Covent Garden (progreso.org.uk), British actor Colin Firth has launched his latest endeavor, Eco (213 Chiswick High Rd.; 44-20/8995-7611). The green boutique is located in the tony west London neighborhood of Chiswick. On the ground floor, shelves are stacked with Poppy Organic face cream, floral-print recycled stationery, and wool knit toys. Upstairs, home furnishings like lampshades made out of the shaved wood of fallen Norwegian trees share space with biodegradable wallpaper. Added bonus: a team of on-site consultants can give advice on how to make any house more energy-efficient.
