Madrid Shopping Events This Weekend

These are busy days for Madrid’s youngest designers and small retailers. Before the July sales and the summer retail doldrums set in, some of the city’s smallest and most innovative fashion houses and style entrepreneurs are hawking their wares at a special multi-brand pop-up event known as a “Trendy Shot.”

Taking over the upper levels of the equally trendy and multi-brand showroom 1001 Atmosfera at 24 Paseo de la Habana (just a bit south of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium where Real Madrid plays), the style market is pulling in hip preppies and preppy hipsters from across the city.

They come to see their friends and snap up niche brands and artisanal purveyors of everything from leather bags and boots to bedding and bathing suits. Most of the products, like the men’s swim trunks available from Manner (pictured) are proudly designed, sourced, and produced in Spain.

Better hurry—this Trendy Shot ends on Saturday and doors are open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. (But if you miss it, mark the next one on your calendar, happening July 9-11.)

After, determined style mavens can beat feet down the Castellana into the Barrio de Las Letras for the sixth edition of Decoracción, a fun street fair promoting the neighborhood’s many antiques dealers, designers, craftsmen, and art galleries. The already picturesque streets—which were once trod by Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina and other Spanish literary giants—get a good dressing up by local designers and artists.

That event ends on Sunday, when diehard vintage hunters can add a stroll through the city’s nearby flea market, known as the Rastro, in the adjacent Lavapies neighborhood.
