Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan

Heading to Italy for Milano Expo 2015? You're not alone. An expected 20 million visitors will flood the city from May 1 to October 31, essentially putting Milan, long billed as an industry town, back in the limelight. Details on the expo itself are this way and, below, find the latest, greatest hotels the city has on offer:

Designer Antonio Citterio styled the 104 beige-toned guest rooms at the Mandarin Oriental (doubles from $792), set in four 19th-century palazzi in art- centric Brera.

Close by, the modern ME Milan Il Duca (doubles from $329) occupies a building by the late Milanese architect Aldo Rossi. Don’t miss the indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge.

TownHouse Duomo (doubles from $706), the eighth hotel from the local Townhouse group, is in the same complex as the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (right) and offers views of the cathedral.

In Tortona, the boutique Hotel Magna Pars Suites Milano (doubles from $467), beloved by the fashion world, has added 11 more streamlined rooms with bright splashes of color.
