High-end fashion brand Bottega Veneta, known for its woven leather goods, opened its first home boutique this month, a gorgeous store inside Milan’s Palazzo Gallarati Scotti.

Here the brand’s collection of furnishings, lighting, and tabletop accessories (why hello there, chic pen cup) are surrounded by purposefully unrestored frescoed walls, which were painted by 18th-century artists Carlo Innocenzo Carlone and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. The old opulence of the site on Via Borgospesso not only pays homage to the area’s historic beauty, but also serves as a point of juxtaposition, highlighting the modern design of Bottega Veneta’s domestic pieces.

Looking to shop the collections? Though Bottega Veneta is quintessentially Milanese, pay attention to notable collaborations that celebrate craftsmanship from different parts of Italy and Europe: Venetian glassware from Murano artisans, porcelain from Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur in Berlin, and chairs from Italian furniture-maker Poltrana Frau, to name a few.
