Afandou Beach

Afandou Beach

Claiming the title of Rhodes’ longest beach is the sun-soaked Afandou Beach, stretching for 4km along the northeast coast.  One of the island’s most popular beaches, the Blue Flag awarded Afandou features a mix of sand and pebble beach; calm, shallow waters and shaded alcoves lined with palm trees.
Hop on the miniature train running from Afandou village to the coast and you’ll find everything you need for a day at the beach. Sun beds and umbrellas line the main stretch, served by a number of waterfront restaurants, snack kiosks, fish tavernas and beach bars. Afandou is also a burgeoning hotspot for wind-surfers and water sports outlets are dotted along the beach, with activities including jet skiing, boating, kayaking, snorkeling and diving. There’s even the Afandou golf course – an 18-hole 72-par course, designed by Donald Harradine and set in a striking location, overlooking the ocean. Elsewhere, pockets of the beach have been left undeveloped, allowing ample opportunity to escape the crowds and sunbathe in peace.
