Luni

TIME : 2016/2/18 21:12:39

Luni , one of Val di Magra’s archaeological sites, is 6km southeast of Sarzana. Established as a Roman colony in 177 BC, it thrived as a wealthy trading centre until the Middle Ages, when the port began to silt up, making it a breeding ground for malaria. The town was abandoned in 1204. Today you can see remains of an amphitheatre, forum, temples and houses, along with some remarkable mosaic floors and frescoes.
