Tolerance Centre

TIME : 2016/2/18 22:35:41

The Tolerance Center is one of the three main branches of the Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum. The building, which has been at various stages a refuge, a concert hall and a theatre, exhibits Litvak (Lithuanian Jewish) art and cultural and historical collections. It serves as a helpful adjunct to the Holocaust Museum: its exhibitions focus less on the Holocaust and more on Jewish history and culture over the centuries leading up to WWII.

The explanatory panels in English on the 2nd floor are long but useful guides. Each covers a theme and is balanced and informative. A small permanent exhibit on the Jewish avant-garde in Vilnius between the wars is enlightening.
