Down in the foothills, old Vlach villages like Malovište preserve rustic ambience and traditional architecture – though not restaurants or guesthouses.
Malovište's cobblestone laneways require good shoes. A 30-minute walk (2.5km) from the frescoed Church of Sveta Petka (1856) reaches the secluded Church of Sveta Ana .
To reach Malovište from Bitola, drive 4km west towards Resen, and turn at Kazani. Take the first left, and then another left through a tunnel and proceed straight.
