Less than 2 miles north of downtown Hilo, this protected cove is Hilo's best surfing and bodyboarding spot. When surf's up, it's jammed with locals and not a place for novices. Don't expect a sandy beach or ideal swimming conditions. It's all about the waves. Has daily lifeguards, restrooms, showers and picnic areas.
