While walking from Chinatown to Gastown one day I passed by Cadeaux Bakery. Inside the shop is an open kitchen where patrons can see the baking action going down, there's a case with cakes and pastries, an area with baked goods like cookies, scones, and baked goods, and a retail area. Cadeaux also does wedding and party/celebration cakes as well as wholesale. Located on Powell closer to Main Street, it's closer to Chinatown than the heart of Gastown but definitely worth the jaunt if you have a sweet tooth. I had a lemon tart with meringue and it was gone in about 1.5 bites. I ate it took a photo of one of their beautiful cakes instead.
