Museum of Colonial Art (Museo de Arte Colonial)

Located across the street from Parque Central, the Museum of Colonial Art is known for its architectural exhibits which date back to the 16th and 17th centuries.  Established as a museum by the Guatemala government in 1936, today the museum is frequently host to school and educational visits.

Situated in front of the Cathedral's ruins, the museum contains exhibits including a large art collection, sculptures, paintings and furniture. Mexican artists from the colonial era, including Juan de Correa and Miguel Cabrera, are on display here.

The museum is housed inside the former University San Carlos, which features some of the classic architectural designs from the colonial history of the 1800s.
