San Bartolo has an excellent, modern, folk-art museum, the Museo Estatal de Arte Popular de Oaxaca, on the south side of the main village plaza. It’s very nicely done and features a collection of fine barro negro (the polished, surprisingly light, black pottery that you find in hundreds of forms around Oaxaca) plus exhibits of quality folk art from around Oaxaca state.
