Paluma Range National Park

Paluma Range National Park

This popular national park, owned by the Nywaigi Aboriginal people, is known by locals as the misty mountain. That’s because most mornings gray mist gathers high above rainforests that line the Paluma Range. Scenic landscapes serve as the southern gateway for the Wet Tropics World Heritage Site and the park is divided into northern and southern regions that are ripe with activities for outdoor enthusiasts. Travelers can escape the heat of the Queensland coast and relax into the thick-forested wonder of Paluma, tour the nearby mountain village, wander through trails that lead to impressive waterfalls or swim and water ski at the Paluma Dam.

Practical Info

The Jourama Falls section of this national park is located 91 kilometers north of Townsville. Travelers can access the Mount Spec area, located 61 kilometers north of Townsville, too.
