Don Silvano Ranch

Don Silvano Ranch

Don Silvano Ranch (Estancia Don Silvano in Spanish) sits on the pampas outside the Argentine capital. A day trip to this ranch gives visitors a glimpse into the history, heritage and traditions of Argentina’s cowboys, or gauchos, who worked as cattle herders and have become famous for their impressive skills on horseback.
A typical visit to Don Silvano Ranch begins with an Argentine-style welcome — empanadas and wine — followed by a tour of the estancia, including its small museum and bakery. Guests can explore the surrounding countryside on horseback, play a game of bocce ball or explore the ranch on foot.
In the pampas, lunch takes the form of a gaucho-style barbecue. Ranch guests fill up on various meats cooked over an open flame and washed down with Malbec. Folk singers and dancers entertain during the meal. In the afternoon, guests are treated to a gaucho show, where the estancia cattle herders show off their skills on horseback. The afternoon draws to a close with a cup of mate, a typical Argentine tea, served with pastries.
