Sabor a Tango

Of all the romantic things you can say about Buenos Aires, one that most tourists will not want to go home without experiencing is a tango show. One great option is the Sabor a Tango (literally: Flavor of Tango) show, held in the vast Palazzo Rossini, built in 1878, and which was formerly home to an opera singer’s guild. Guests generally come as part of a tour, which bring them from area hotels to the palace in central Buenos Aires. There is a dinner option that includes a free hour-long tango lesson, in which participants learn basic moves, and a three-course meal before the show begins. Food options include Argentine specialties such as empanadas, as well as international, vegetarian and fish options, a dulce de leche custard for dessert, and unlimited drinks.
Or you can dine elsewhere, and come for just the spectacle, which starts at 10:15 PM, and lasts about 90 minutes. It consists of singers, four couples dancing tango, as well as a display of criollo music, which is Euro-Argentine music, as well as some music from the Andes. There are photographers on hand snapping photos of guests during the tango lessons and show, which make a unique souvenir of a special night, which for many is the highlight of their trip to Buenos Aires.

Practical Info

Plan on taking the free tango lesson to fully appreciate the complexity of the dance you will see on stage later in the evening.
