Spring is one of the best times to visit Barcelona with various events taking place to go along with the perfect weather, allowing you to spend your days outdoors enjoying the city to the full. From awesome football matches at the famous Camp Nou stadium to plenty of music and traditional festivals, Barcelona has no shortage of things to do this spring.

What better way to kick off spring in Barcelona than watching one of the best football clubs in the world? FC Barcelona will be playing two of their biggest games at the end of March with a lot at stake.

On the 18thMarch, Bara will take on Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League match to advance to the next round. Just a few days later, one of the most exciting rivalry showdowns in all of sports will take place as the team clashes with Real Madrid in El Clsico on 22nd Marc. Whether you plan on attending one of the games or watching the action at one of the various bars in the city, it will be an unforgettable experience cheering along side Blaugrana supporters.

Whether youre a car enthusiast or not, Espiritu de Montjuc is a great way to have fun with the family while taking a visit to the citys past. This three day event takes you back in time to when the Montjuc track was filled with classic cars and a magical atmosphere.

Feel the romance on Sant Jordis Day(23rd April)

Barcelona becomes a city full of books, flowers and romance on the day of Sant Jordi (Saint George), a celebration similar to Valentines Day. 23rd Aprilmarks the day of Sant Jordis death and the festivities turn the city red and yellow for the whole day in honor of the patron Saint of Catalonia.

Legend has it that Sant Jordi gave a rose to the princess whom he saved from a fearsome dragon. And so a tradition began whereby men give women roses and women give them books in exchange (23rd Aprilis also Word Book Day). Many people take to the streets to celebrate, including in Plaa de Catalunya, Las Ramblas and Plaa Sant Jaume.

Be entertained at the Feria de Abril(25th April to 4th May)

The Feria de Abril, one of the largest spring fairs in Spain, creates a festive and exciting environment in the city. The Andalusian fair was started in the 1970s, replicating Sevilles famous festival of the same name, and a version of it is still held every year in Barcelona.

Women dress up in traditional outfits and are joined by men to dance. Colorful tents, also known as casetas, fill the streets allowing those in attendance to enjoy the cultural food and drinks along with the many games, rides and other attractions at the fair. This free event lasts 10 days and is usually held in Parc del Frum with thousands of locals and visitors going along every year.

Witness the Barcelona Grand Prix(9th-10th May)

Barcelona becomes the centre of the racing world in May with the Santander 2015 Spanish Grand Prix making for an adrenaline-filled weekend. Leading up to the main event you can check out practices along with the qualifying run on Friday and Saturday before the race on Sunday.

Rock on at Primavera Sound Festival(28th-30th May)

Rock music festival Primavera Sound will be celebrating its 15th edition at the end of May with multiple artists keeping those in attendance cheering and entertained. Some of the confirmed artists for this years festival include well-known bands like the The Black Keys, The Strokes and Interpol.
