Camping under the stars can be a wonderful experience provided you are well-prepared. If you're staying on a camp-site check to see what facilities it has, that will determine what you need to take on your trip. Write a checklist of things and bear in mind the weather conditions. There are a number of things outlined here; plan around them and there is no reason why your trip won't be pleasurable.

Shelter and Bedding: If you are going to spend the nights under canvas you are going to need a tent! Some of the modern tents are very easy to assemble and require few tools to make a good job. As well as the tent and the tools you will need a ground sheet, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, pillow or head rest and it is always wise to take an extra blanket just in case. The blanket can always be used for picnics if not needed for warmth at night.

Cooking: If you plan to do your own cooking the stove and its gas are obvious, but don't forget the pans, pots, kettle and spatula to cook with and the matches to light it.Plates, cutlery and cups also make eating easier! Canned food is easier to store but if you take fresh you will need a cooler to store them in. For canned food a can-opener is essential. Fresh water should also be taken just in case.

Clothing: Take clothes suitable for the environment. If camping in the mountains remember the weather can change quickly there - be prepared for all eventualities. Jacket, hat, boots and swimwear in addition to trousers, shorts, sandals and t-shirts are advisable. Better to take more than you need when camping.

Personal Hygiene: Nothing is going to be worse than unpacking your bag and finding you've forgotten your toothbrush. Camping sites usually have shops stocked with such things but in case you are not on a site remember to take: toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, towel, razor and comb/brush.

Other Stuff: Always take a first aid kit. A torch or lantern for night-time wanderings or reading is helpful. Be prepared for any eventuality with a multi-use penknife. Spare matches for lighting the stove or campfire come in handy and of course your mobile phone. Rubbish bags for tidying up are advisable.

This is just a general overview of what you need to make your camping trip a happy time. You can add to the list by all means. Happy Camping! Buy good value sports stuff in various sorts and designs at snowboard kids 64 and ski clothes for kids.
