HOTEL

Gravetye Manor in West Sussex, England. This is the former home of 19th-century landscaper William Robinson, famed for being the father of the wild garden. It's a small Relais and Chateaux-listed hotel, with the gardens being the major attraction. Guests can dine or take drinks in the intimate and secluded areas in the garden.

AIRLINE

I recently travelled Singapore Airlines suites (talk about being spoilt) with a virtual double bed to myself and a vacant suite behind me set up for my TV watching.

RESORT

I am not big on resorts, preferring to stay in small boutique hotels and avoiding anything tropical or with masses of guests. If I had to nominate one, it would be the safari resorts of South Africa, my favourite being Royal Malewane. I love seeing the wildlife and this, coupled with the early-morning wake-up (4.30am is my favourite time of the day) makes the whole experience my cup of tea.

LUGGAGE

I travel weekly with my job and creating gardens all over Australia and the world sees me on a plane at least once a week. I usually travel with only hand luggage and have learnt the art of travelling light. The brand that has worked for me best is Victorinox.

KIT

My iPhone has my entire life on it, with every app and contact I need to travel the world.

NEXT ADVENTURE

My next great adventure would be Yemen. I have been to Syria and Iran in the past three years, and I am in love with how they garden in the Middle East.
