Delhi Entertainment Guide - For fun, recreation, and relaxation

TIME : 2016/2/24 11:59:41

Delhi is a thriving city, with endless opportunities for fun and enjoyment. Aside from shopping, visitors can enjoy a host of activities such as rock climbing, horseback riding, ballooning and boating. A number of expansive lakes are in close proximity to Delhi, and provide the opportunity for visitors to escape the chaos of the city and lap up the surrounding scenery and wildlife.

Walking tours around Delhi are a fantastic way to experience the architectural sites in more detail, while a picnic in the park near India Gate is a great way to absorb the atmosphere of the city. Evenings are a particularly pleasant time to visit this spot, when local families come to enjoy the evening air and enjoy snacks from vendors.

After dark, an array of lively clubs, pubs and discos allow visitors to keep the candle burning into the wee hours. Delhi's nightlife lacks the pulsating vitality of other Indian cities; however, the lights in Delhi stay on long after midnight.

Rock climbing

Just three hours outside the throbbing capital, the Aravalli Hills provide the ideal terrain for rock climbing. With stunning views over Domdama Lake, this activity provides the perfect break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Scaling this rugged terrain should only be attempted by experienced climbers. The rock climbing season in Delhi is between October and March.

Boating

Domdama Lake provides an opportunity for some water-based fun. Visitors can enjoy a scenic boat trip around the lake, with the rugged Aravalli Hills as a stunning backdrop. This is a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing trip for all the family, and can be enjoyed all year round.

Walking tours

Touring Old Delhi on foot is a great way to spend a morning. There are so many sights to behold and shops to browse. Shopping areas are best avoided on Saturdays and some shops close on Sundays, so a midweek expedition is recommended.

Horseback riding

Delhi Riding Club is located on Safdarjung Road and is also home to a children's riding group. This relaxing activity provides a welcome escape from the city, and is entertaining for all the family. The club operates all year round.

Nightlife

Although Delhi's nightlife doesn't compare to the pumping scene in India's entertainment capital, Mumbai, the city still knows how to party. Most of Delhi's watering holes are dotted around Connaught Place, with more springing up in the south on a regular basis. Drinks prices vary according to the caliber of the venue and most venues host live music at least once a week. Clubs are mainly found in luxury hotels, and most operate a couples-only policy.
