Try your hand at paddling a real canoe around the rivers of America in Critter Country (well, the Tokyo Disneyland version!). This is a more active way to enjoy the same course as the Mark Twain Riverboat, and may be especially fun on a hot day. At the start, you are given a paddle and the two guides teach you how to use them. It is not hard, though you probably will bump paddles with the other passengers at first, providing a fair amount of laughs. There are several breaks to rest along the way and enjoy the scenery. The guide tells stories about the view, but only in Japanese.

You are not allowed to take photos or videos while in the canoes. There are age and size restrictions, the main one being that your feet must reach the floor when sitting, because the 16 passengers in the boat are all expected to paddle. This ride is not very high-tech, making a refreshing break from all the animatronics. You can enjoy the Beaver Brothers Explorer Canoes from one hour after the park opens until dusk, so plan your visit accordingly.
