Hotels Near the Place de la Comédie in Montpellier

The Place de la Comédie is more or less Montpellier’s main scene in town, and there’s always something going on – from beach volleyball games (yes, with real sand) to open markets, regional food and wine events, and concerts. The town Christmas tree is plopped down there every year, and for rugby and soccer finals they roll out a huge TV screen so thousands of people can watch. It’s definitely where you want to be, which is why I’ve selected my favorite hotels right on or near the Comédie for your thoughtful consideration as you plan your trip down south!

Speaking of which, here are some helpful South of France travel planning links that include info about Montpellier, to get you inspired:

Hotel Ibis Centre

I know, I know – another Ibis. What can I say; I’m a fan! This is a great hotel for shoppers as well – it’s just off the Comédie in the stylish Sauramps tower and on the way to the Polygone mall.

New Hotel du Midi

A classic, old-school hotel that’s just undergone a fantastic renovation. Also home to La Brasserie du Théâtre, a gilded room with outstanding bouillabaisse.

Citadines Antigone

This is not a hotel, but an aparthotel – efficiency apartments that take that term to a whole new level. They’re clean, comfortable, have free WiFi and are a great option if you’re looking to make Montpellier your base for a lengthy southern France sojourn.
