Nightlife in Honolulu: Nocturna Lounge

TIME : 2016/2/25 15:09:10

This week, I had the chance to check out the new Nocturna Lounge at Waterfront Plaza. Open 7 days a week til 2am, this is Honolulu’s first NextGen lounge and it showcases the latest in hi-tech karaoke, video games, and a creative cocktail menu.

Four private rooms offer guests the chance to play the hottest Xbox Kinect games, such as the ever popular Dance Central. Or fight over the chance to play in your very own Rock Band, which is right next to the bar area – perfect if you need a little liquid courage to show your stuff. And then, of course, there is karaoke. In order to give you the best possible karaoke experience, they brought the machines in all the way from Korea!

Monday through Friday, happy hour specials include $3 domestics, $4 imports, and $5 wines by the glass, plus free karaoke in the lounge. The specialty cocktail menu includes a variety of tasty cocktails, with names that will remind video gamers of some of their favorites. For example, try a Tiger Uppercut (sake, Midori, ginger ale, lime juice, and fresh Thai basil) or the popular Burning Sensation, which features pineapple vodka, lime juice, and a muddled serrano chile for heat! One of Honolulu’s hottest bartenders (Tim Rita, who you can also catch over at Lewer’s Lounge at the Halekulani Hotel) works behind the bar on Thursdays.

There’s no food available at the Nocturna Lounge, but fortunately Waterfront Plaza is home to several amazing restaurants, such as Hiroshi’s Eurasian Tapas, Vino, or Ruths Chris Steakhouse which is right next door.
