Coming to Hawaii for a convention? Lucky you! Although some people end up with all work and no play on a working vacation, here’s hoping that you’ll get at least a little bit of free time to enjoy all the things to do in Honolulu.

The area around the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu has quite a few hotel options. The center is located at the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue, at the west side (or “Ewa end”) of Waikiki – see the bottom of this post for an interactive map of the area. It’s a great location because not only are the meeting facilities excellent, but you are literally blocks from the beach, world class shopping, great restaurants, and the excitement of Waikiki.

Below are just a few of your options for hotels nearest the Hawaii Convention Center, but you can also look for hotels elsewhere in Honolulu or Waikiki. If you’re looking for budget accommodations, you may also want to consider hostels or vacation rentals in Waikiki. You can also use the widgets at the top or bottom of this post for even more hotel and vacation package options.

Ala Moana Hotel

This popular option is literally across the street from the Convention Center and conveniently located next to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, which is the world’s largest open air shopping center, as well as a hub for Oahu’s public transport system, The Bus.

Hawaii Prince Hotel

Within easy walking distance to the Hawaii Convention Center as well as Ala Moana Shopping Center, the Hawaii Prince Hotel has great views of the boat harbor as well as Ala Moana Beach Park. (Inside tip: In addition to the link below, you may want to check Hotwire for hotels in the “marina” area, as the Hawaii Prince Hotel is often one of those properties and can be had for a fraction of the price.)

Pagoda Hotel

The two-star Pagoda Hotel is a bit further from the Convention Center, the beach, and Waikiki. It is, however, convenient to the Don Quixote grocery store for stocking up on food, and some units feature kitchenettes so you can save some money by preparing some of your own meals.
