Papohaku Beach (Three Mile Beach), Molokai – Hawaii

Papohaku Beach (AKA-Three Mile Beach), is a small sample of paradise on the West end of the Hawaiian island- Molokai. It is touted as Hawaii’s largest white sand beach. Beachgoers will enjoy pristine uninterrupted white sand; extending three miles long, and over 300 yards wide.

Anyone that is seeking a stunning backdrop, relaxation, and low traffic will find themselves perfectly at home on Papohaku Beach. Really, the only time that the beach finds more than a few footprints is during the annual Papohaku Beach Park Molokai Ka Hula Piko festival, in May. Otherwise, the beach remains a desolate and untainted beauty.

What To Expect
Parking is available at the Papohaku Beach Park. You will enter the beach area from the Papohaku Beach Park. The entry path is lined by a grove of towering trees. Activities include: swimming, snorkeling, diving, surfing, sunbathing, beach combing, jogging, etc… However, beachgoers will not find any lifeguards on duty. Beach conditions must be assessed by users.

Careful caution should be used with any of the water activities, especially during the winter months. Seasonal high surf, jagged rocks, coral reefs, etc.. should be considered before entering the water. Summer and fall are the best times to visit the beach.

Occasionally, sand can batter beachgoers when trade winds pick up. Visitors can find drinking water, restrooms, barbeque grills, outdoor and indoor showers, camping facilities, and picnic facilities at Papohaku Beach Park. There is not any electricity, phones, first aid, or park office. The weather is typically good year round, with an average temperature of 75°F.
