Whether you are looking for an adventure in a faraway land or a more sedate, cultural city break, there are so many affordable vacation destinations to choose from, it’s difficult to know where to start. Whichever destination that you choose, travelling is a fantastic opportunity to experience different foods and cultures, and learn more about the world we live in. So pack your sunblock, your tourist guide, phrase book and check out these ten travel destinations that will blow your mind:

1. Antarctica

There aren’t many places left in the world that you can really get from it all, but Antarctica is one of them. Stunning scenery and a holiday you can really talk about, the area is accessible to tourists between November and March for a visit to this last pristine wilderness.

2. Egypt

Visit the home of the Pharaohs, the sphinx and the pyramids. There are so many historical treasures housed in Egypt, that it’s impossible to list them. One the most relaxing ways to explore Egypt is on a Nile cruise, on which you can visit the Valley of the Kings, Luxor and Aswan, or relax in one of the many red sea resorts and enjoy some of the world’s finest snorkeling.

3. Thailand

Thailand has gone from a backpacker’s paradise to a major holiday destination in just a few years. Thailand now offers travellers all the comforts of top rated hotels and facilities, along with the beautiful countryside, fabulous beaches and a fascinating Buddhist cultural experience.

Perhaps not for you though if you are looking for luxury, Bolivia is one the poorest countries in South America and its tourist industry is still being developed.

8 Taiwan

Taiwan has an extraordinary natural beauty and was the setting for the tropical beach scenes in the movie, ‘The Life of Pi’. As well as the fantastic tropical beaches and glorious countryside, there is the exciting, high tech city of Taipei to visit, awe inspiring ancient temples and monuments, as well as plenty of restaurants and street markets.

9. The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is a great destination if you are looking to soak up the Caribbean sunshine at an affordable price. Pristine white sandy beaches bordered by swaying palm trees; the Dominican Republic is a tropical paradise not yet made too commercial.

10. Nepal

Busy, noisy, dusty and no beaches, but don’t let that put you off visiting Nepal! This tiny country in the foothills of the Himalayas offers stunning mountain views, Himalayan treks and a glimpse of a culture, completely different from Western countries. With a rich history, Nepal has plenty of temples to visit and you are sure of a warm welcome from the locals too.
