Spend the Summer at Folk Music Camp

Winter is far from over, but it’s never too early to start planning your summer vacation. This year, why not forgo the traditional beach getaway for a trip that gets your creative juices flowing.

Thanks to a new trend of specialty sleep-away camps for the 18-and-older set, adults are packing their bags to make new friends, explore their passions, and indulge in a little campfire nostalgia.

One such experience? Miles of Music Camp, a program focused on teaching traditional folk music and songwriting with a side of yoga, boating, and old-school square dance.

Whether you consider yourself the next Bob Dylan or you've never picked up a guitar in your life, participants of all skill levels are welcome, and instructors range from accomplished folk singer-songwriters like co-founders Kristin Andreassen and Laura Cortese to Louisiana cajun and swamp pop players The Revelers.

Now, if you’d still prefer to use your PTO on a trip to the shore, Miles of Music also offers two weekend sessions in addition to the main event, a week-long workshop on a private woodland island on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Or, simply give Andreassen’s new record a listen. The bulk of her second solo album, Gondolier, was written on the same wooded island in New Hampshire and showcases her whimsical indie-folk style. Gondolier goes on sale February 17, but pre-order today for a sneak peek of three songs.
