Say Hello to NYC's Most Luxurious Facial

Midtown Manhattan’s Baccarat Hotel has been drawing a steady stream of well-heeled guests to its chandelier-studded interiors ever since opening this March. But one could argue that an equally cool—albeit more restful—scene is downstairs, at the Spa de La Mer.

That’s right: the Baccarat houses the cult skincare line's first standalone spa in the United States. There's a spectacular 55-foot-long pool, a small but lovely white and black marble locker room, and four spacious treatment rooms. Speaking of, each treatment room is sleek, dark, and cocoon-like, with murals of sea kelp, which is the brand's core ingredient in their signature Miracle Broth.

The treatment to get is the 90-minute La Mer Baccarat Facial, which involves rigorous massaging and cleansing of the face and décolleté. This is not a facial about extractions. Skin is exfoliated with precious diamond powder (a nod to the Baccarat brand), before your therapist applies crystal stones in a circular motion, massaging and uplifting the skin. (One of the stones is red, to stimulate, the other is blue, to calm.)

A mask packed with La Mer's signature miracle broth follows; while it works its magic, your therapist massages your feet and hands. We can't think of a more indulgent way to spend an afternoon. The diamond-powder magic rings in at $350.
