Sha Tin Racecourse

Thanks to the longtime British presence in Hong Kong, horse racing has enjoyed a long history in the city and has become a favorite pastime of locals and visitors alike. Sha Tin Racecourse is one of two race tracks in the city and the only one in Kowloon. It’s the newer of the two tracks and holds records for the richest day of turf racing and the longest Diamond Vision screen on the planet.

Races occur every Wednesday evening as well as on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  Sha Tin also hosts a handful of international races, including the Hong Kong Cup, Hong Kong Vase, Hong Kong Mile and Hong Kong Sprint. As the only legal form of gambling in Hong Kong, there’s always a crowd placing bets on the races, both in the betting hall at the track and at racing offices around the city. Forty high definition places around the betting hall let you watch the current races while you place your bets on the next.
