Sakkarbaug Zoo

TIME : 2016/2/17 13:04:39

If you don’t make it to Sasan Gir Wildlife Sanctuary, Junagadh’s zoo, 2km north of the centre, has Asiatic lions and a broad selection of other Indian wildlife. Most of the animal pens are rather depressing; in the ‘safari’ park at the back, the big cats you view from a bus are in larger, more humane enclosures. Still, it’s not a bad place to go, as it’s shady, quiet, and the beauty of some of the animals is mesmerising despite the cages.

The zoo also houses the Junagadh Museum , with paintings, manuscripts, archaeological finds and more. An autorickshaw from the centre costs around ₹25.
