Till the 1950s this temple was Leh's main Buddhist place of public worship. These days getting in depends on finding a monk who has the key. The colourful internal murals celebrate the full pantheon of 1000 Buddhas, of which 996 have yet to be born. It's one of a trio at the base of Leh Palace.
