Rewa Kund Group Ruins
A pleasant 4km-cycle south of the village Mandu, past Sagar Talao, brings you to two more ruins. Tickets for both should be bought from outside Baz Bahadur’s Palace.

Teen Darwaja
To the east of Bhadra Fort stands the Teen Darwaja, which was the gateway into the Royal Square, or Maidan Shahi, where royal processions and polo games took place.

Village Group
This group, located by the bus stand in the centre of the village, contains three monuments. One ticket, which you buy at the entrance to Jama Masjid, covers all three.

Gangeswar Temple
Gangeswar Temple, on the south coast 3km west of town, just past Fudam village, is a small coastal cave where five Shiva linga (phallic symbols) are washed by the waves.

Kedargauri Mandir
Over the pathway from Mukteswar Mandir is the whitewashed Kedargauri Mandir, one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar, although it has been substantially rebuilt.

Himalayan Bird Park
Opposite the Viceregal Lodges gate is the Himalayan Bird Park, with a small collection of exotic birdlife, including the iridescent monal pheasant, Himachal’s state bird.

Govind Dev Temple
This cavernous, red sandstone temple, built in 1590 by Raja Man Singh of Amber, has cute bells carved on its pillars. Resident monkeys here are as cheeky as any in India.

Chandrakant Mandare Museum
Dedicated to actor and artist Chandrakant Mandare (1913–2001), this well-maintained gallery houses stills of his movies as well as his fine paintings and sketches.

Belur Math Museum
Accessed from the Belur Math car park, this beautifully presented dual-level museum charts Ramakrishna’s life and the travels of his great disciple Swami Vivekananda.

Badrama Wildlife Sanctuary
The Badrama Wildlife Sanctuary , 37km from Sambalpur, shelters elephants, tigers, panthers and bears. It can be closed with no notice in the event of bad weather.

Geology Museum
The Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology has a small museum that covers local rocks, glaciers and earthquakes. Fossils include a dinosaur egg and stacks of teeth.

National Gandhi Museum
A small but moving museum displaying historic photos and items such as Gandhi’s spinning wheels and the dhoti (long loincloth) he was wearing at the time of his murder.

Nirmal Hriday
Mother Teresa’s world famous, if surprisingly small, home for the dying, was originally a Kalighat pilgrim hostel. Its roof-corners are pimpled with neo-Mughal mini-domes.

Buddha Statue
A large modern Buddha statue, built from 2002 to 2005, stares across the Spiti valley from the top of the village; the temple behind it is around 500 years old.

Arabic & Persian Research Institute
At the Arabic & Persian Research Institute a rare collection of old Arabic and Persian manuscripts and books is housed, dating from the 12th to the 17th century.

Jagti Patt Temple
The Jagti Patt Temple, inside the Naggar Temple, houses a 2.4m-long sacred stone slab said to have been carried here by a swarm of deities in the form of honey bees.

Radhi Murlimanohar Temple
About 50m east of Char Chowk Haveli is this large temple (1845), which retains a few paintings beneath the eaves and some sculptures of deities around the external walls.

Ranbireshwar Mandir
Fairly central, the large if architecturally unremarkable Ranbireshwar Mandir dates from 1863 and enshrines a large collection of lingams, some in opalescent crystal.
