To the west of the city, this shrine is nestled in a forest so dense it's easy to forget that Sapporo is just beyond the grounds. Dating back to 1869, this is one of the oldest shrines in Hokkaidō and is known for its spectacular cherry and plum blossoms in spring. A few blocks west of Maruyama-kōen subway station (円山公園).
