These wonderfully photogenic housing rows, known as the Hundred Quarters, were built in 1920 to house railway employees and other civil servants. The multi-ethnic road names, Jln Rozario and Jln Chan Ah Tong, refer to two former chief clerks of the colonial civil service. Sadly, the ongoing redevelopment of Brickfields has put these heritage buildings under threat; residents have been given notice to vacate, but likely the buildings will still be standing when you visit.
