Petroglyphs

TIME : 2016/2/17 16:40:41

Rock faces on the steep slopes above Langar are inscribed with over 6000 petroglyphs. Climbing to see them adds further to the great mountain views across the valley junction but it is hard to tell ancient carvings from more recent copy-cat ibexes and more obvious 20th-century grafitti. To find the most accessible group, start from the school – 400m west, then 200m north from the Jamoat Khana. Follow the power lines up and across the dry stream gully to the graveyard, then scramble up 15 minutes and cross the small stream as soon as it's easy to hop across. Guides might take you to a larger group far higher but the petroglyphs are much the same.
