Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel

TIME : 2016/2/18 16:09:11

On the hill southwest of Maria Wörth is the Pyramidenkogel , a hill topped by a spanking new 71-metre tower made of steel with wooden beams spiralling up its exterior. This virtiginous tower has three viewing platforms, two of which are open and the lowest, called the Sky Box, glass encased. Those with strong legs can climb the some 400 steps, or take the glass panorama lift. Then the fun begins: when it opens in mid-2013, the tower will have Europe's longest slide. Yes, that's right - you slide down the 120 metres in about 20 seconds (on a mat so you don't burn a hole in your trousers). The relatively easy St.Anna-Weg trail (90 minutes one way) leads up there through forest from the street Sankt-Anna-Weg near the turn-off to the pensinsular in Maria Wörth. The Maria Wörth tourist office can also help. By road the turn-off is at Reifnitz.
