Royal Palace

TIME : 2016/2/18 16:39:20

Photogenically a-twitter with little pointy turrets, this 1573 palace has been much extended over the years. It now houses the Grand Duke’s office with parliament using its 1859 annexe. In summer the palace opens for gently humorous 45-minute guided tours, dealing mostly with family history. From the medieval-Gothic dining room, the palace’s interior style morphs into sumptuous gilded romanticism upstairs. Tours must be pre-booked via the Luxembourg City Tourist Office .

With only 40 tickets available per tour, you’d be well advised to book ahead, especially for English-language ones (at time of research, 3.30pm and 5pm). Other tours (Letzeburgesch, French, German and Dutch) are somewhat less-heavily subscribed.
