Large and well organised, each of the four floors here is dedicated to a particular theme, such as work, daily life and state institutions. This is rounded off by a fabulous collection of Trabi cars, Simson motorbikes and other vehicles. A timeline charts milestones in Cold War history and there's a restaurant serving GDR-era cuisine.
The Zeitreise Museum is reached by taking tram 4 to Wasastrasse; from the Antonstrasse/Leipziger Strasse stop in Dresden-Neustadt (€4), it will take about 20 minutes.
