One of the more unusual sights along the Glass Route is the Gläserne Wald near the town of Regen. Here glass artist Rudolf Schmid has created a forest of glass trees, some as much as 8m tall. The trees, in a number of transparent shades, are set in a flowery meadow next to Weissenstein Castle and are an intriguing sight; many more are set to be added in coming years.
