One of Berlin's most charismatic neighbourhoods is the Bergmannkiez in western Kreuzberg, named for its main shopping strip, the Bergmannstrasse, which is chock-a-block with people-watching cafes and quirky shops. It culminates in Marheinekeplatz, punctuated by a newly renovated 19th-century gourmet market hall.
