The József Egry Museum is devoted to the Balaton region's leading painter (1883–1951) and Hungary's equivalent to Kokoschka, an Austrian artist known for his experssionist art, especially landscapes and portraits. Many of his works powerfully capture the essence of village and fishing life on the lake through the use of strong, dark colours.
