More than 200 caves pepper a high rock ridge here, making it one of the largest troglodyte dwellings in Italy. The complex was first inhabited in prehistoric times. To explore the site, you'll need two hours and sturdy walking shoes. It's 3 miles due east of Sorano, near the hamlet of San Quírico; follow signs from the SR74.
