Cathedral of Christ the King

TIME : 2016/2/18 23:18:58

Some 800m south of the Rynek is Poland’s largest cathedral, its base measuring 89m by 53m. The massive sandstone structure was erected between 1927 and 1955. The spacious interior is topped with a large dome that rises 59m from the floor, but apart from colourful stained-glass windows and an unusual ‘wheel’ crucifix, it’s fairly plain. Behind it, the Archdiocesan Museum has a collection of sacred art from the late 14th century, including beautiful Gothic altarpieces. Enter from ul Wita Stwosza.
