Daniel the Hermit’s Cave

TIME : 2016/2/19 0:23:20

Just 2km from Putna, this cave contains a wooden table and memorial plaque to the 15th-century hermit and seer Daniel Dimitru. A monk by age 16, Daniel later dug and inhabited this rock cave; his fame was such that Ştefan cel Mare consulted him before doing battle.

From Putna, turn right off the main road following the sign for Cabana Putna. Bear left at the fork and continue to the second fork. Turn right, cross the railway tracks and continue over a small bridge, following the dirt road until you see the rock marked by a stone cross on your left.
