The exquisite church that dominates Sovetskaya pl was built by prominent 17th-century fur dealers. It has some of the Golden Ring’s brightest frescoes, done by the ubiquitous Gury Nikitin of Kostroma and his school, and detailed exterior tiles. The church is closed during wet spells.
