Raixa

Recently restored and opened to the public, this formidable mansion is surrounded by expansive gardens and is also home to an informative interpretation centre for the Serra de Tramuntana. Apart from the gardens, it's worth exploring the cloisters, manor house, arcaded loggia, chapel and the unusual pavilions that climb the ridge behind the house.

The house once belonged to the Count of Roselló, Nunó Sanç, who fought alongside King Jaume I in the 1229 Christian conquest of the island. In the centuries that followed, it passed through the hands of various noble families before being abandoned and falling into disrepair. Now returned to its former glory, it's a splendid place to spend a couple of hours on a weekend.
