A reinterpretation of Seville’s weighty Jewish history has been long overdue and what better place to start than in the city’s former Jewish quarter. This newish museum is in an old Sephardic Jewish house in the higgledy-piggledy Santa Cruz quarter, the one-time Jewish neighbourhood that never recovered from a brutal pogrom and massacre in 1391. The events of the pogrom and other historical happenings are catalogued inside, along with a few surviving mementos including documents, costumes and books. It’s small but poignant.

Guided walks of the Jewish sites of Seville are offered for €22. They run when there are enough people. Call ahead.
