Adjacent to the Baza cathedral on Plaza Mayor is the town’s excellent Museo Municipal, fittingly housed in a 16th-century Renaissance building. The exhibits concentrate on finds from nearby archaeological sites; the most remarkable item is a copy of the Dama de Baza, a person-sized Iberian goddess statue unearthed in 1971 (the original is in Madrid’s Museo Arqueológico Nacional).
