On the western side of Talamanca beach, the scruffy-looking fields of reeds and scrubs known as Ses Feixes were once Ibiza Town's vegetable garden. These were developed by the Moors over a thousand years ago, and irrigated using innovative water management and crop rotation, producing two crops a year. Today the area's a haven for bird-life, including herons and stilts.
