The Iglesia de San Julián de los Prados , 1.2km northeast of Campo de San Francisco, just above the road to Gijón, is the largest remaining pre-Romanesque church, and one of the oldest, built in the early 9th century under Alfonso II. It is flanked by two porches – another Asturian touch – and the inside is covered with frescoes.
