The ancient core of Gijón is concentrated on the headland known as Cimadevilla. At the edge of the Parque del Cerro Santa Catalina promontory stands the Elogio del Horizonte, a monumental concrete sculpture by Basque artist Eduardo Chillida that has become a symbol of the city.
